Decisions, decisions

We have decided to go for Dalhousie. We have given this a lot of thought:

At this point in my life, I am interested in 3 areas of law. 1) environmental law 2) internet technology/intellectual property law 3) international law. Dalhousie is the only school that offers 2/3 of those interests as specializations, whereas most schools only have 1/3, and it makes a lot of sense if I went to Dalhousie because then I have a backup in case one isn’t what I expected and not all of my eggs are in one basket. Plus, Dalhousie has an excellent reputation for law - some rankings have them higher than Queens, even. Also, Halifax weather is closer to Vancouver weather than, say, Calgary is. It’s marginally colder and there isn’t as much snow as people think. Also, it’s a small town, so it’d be better for me to focus on school, and it’s quite possible to walk everywhere I need to. Rent/cost of living is also very affordable - it looks like most 1 bedroom apts are ~$800/~600sqft. Plus, people are supposed to be really really nice there and there’s a lot of opportunity to meet new people since most Dalhousie Law students are from other provinces.

I think it is the best place for us to be.
