about

I’m a 20someodd year old supernerd, saving the world one grammar mistake at a time.

On the Internet
tephs.com is one of several blogs I currently maintain. I began my life on the internet at 13, designing my first webpage on angelfire.com. After going through several versions of various websites, I gave up webdesign at 16, and have not done anything original since. I currently am active on facebook and twitter, and lurk on xanga and livejournal. I have been going by tephs since around the year 2000, as dubbed by my good friend malloreigh.

You may have noticed that this blog is not updated very frequently, in fact, I do make an effort to update with substantial posts - deeps thoughts, theories of humanity and the like. Granted, these revelations do not come often and often when they do come, it is in an inconvenient flood. If you would like to keep up with my daily trivialities and comical turmoils, I invite you to follow me on twitter, under tephs.

In the classroom
I recently completed my Bachelor of Arts in Honours English and Classical Studies (specializing in Medieval Literature and Classical Tragedy) at the University of British Columbia. I wrote my honours thesis on the Failed Ideals in Arthurian Literature. I deeply miss my days in the classroom; it is through literature that I learned to observe the sensitivity of human interaction, the depravity of society, the nature of human corruption, and the tragedy of fallen heroic ideals. It is through literature that I learned words like euphemism and crepuscular and effulgent; but more than that, it is through literature that I learned about social responsibility, justice, morality, and most importantly, humility. With these lessons in hand, my essays frequently focused on the roles and the nature of heroes. I am fascinated by the inherent divinity of ancient Greek and Roman heroes, the moral ambiguity of anti-heroes, the internal conflicts of Byronic heroes, the self-critical and introspective Romantic hero, the unfortunate and ironic virtues of tragic heroes, and the almost excessive nobility of epic heroes. These will often be recurring themes in the tephs.com blog.

By Day
I’m a workaholic by choice and by necessity. At this point, I regularly work 60+ hours a week at three different jobs, and tutor English on the side occasionally. My full-time job is at Economical Insurance Company, where I am employed as a Underwriting Assistant in the Commercial department. I also work on the weekends at Cruise Experts Travel as a receptionist, and some nights I work at the Bay in Oakridge mall as a switchboard operator. I also create/design/publish their weekly internal newsletter on Saturdays.
